Ryan Simpson made yet another step closer to taking out the 2008 NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship over the weekend at Oran Park Raceway when he clinched victory in the fourth round.

For the third occasion this year, adding to his efforts at Wakefield Park Raceway in round one and Oran Park Raceway last round, Simpson went through the weekend undefeated when he topped the time sheets in qualifying and then went on to take out all three race wins.

The third and final race was run under wet conditions and due to a down poor the race was changed to the South circuit. Simpson has once again consolidated his lead in the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship point standings and with two rounds remaining is now in the box seat to take out the NSW Championship in his first year in the Formula Ford ranks.

The Anglo Australian Motorsport driver was unhappy with the setup of his # 16 Parramatta Smash Repairs supported Comtec Spirit K08 during qualifying but he still managed to claim his fourth consecutive pole position.

“I struggled with setup a little bit early in the weekend, mainly in qualifying, but we got it all together in the three races despite encountering some oil during the second race,” expressed Simpson.

“The goal for the remainder of the championship is to just maintain my handing buffer over my rivals, and if I can do that by winning, then that certainly makes it even more pleasing.”

Simpson wanted to say a big thanks to Parramatta Smash Repairs for all their support and the entire Anglo Australian Motorsport Team.

The fifth and penultimate round of the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship travels down to Goulburn’s Wakefield Park Raceway on August 16 – 17 and it’s where Simpson hopes to seal his championship fate.

“There are still six races left in the championship, so the aim is to just go out there and not do anything silly, as I am not home yet,” he added.
