Ryan Simpson has been able to consolidate his command of the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship last weekend when he recorded a clean sweep of the third round at Oran Park Raceway.

Simpson’s latest round victory in the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship extends his lead over Tom Tweedie in the championship point standings and builds his winning tally to eight from nine races.

After topping the time sheets in qualifying and winning the opening race, Simpson had to fight hard for victory in the second race after a slow start off the line, but it was his never say die driving attitude that saw him claim the lead in the closing stages and go on to take yet another victory.

With Simpson starting from pole position by virtue of winning race two and he managed to take full advantage of that. From the drop of the green flag Simpson took an immediate lead and from there was never headed despite a late safety car period.

“To win my third round in a row is certainly a wonderful feeling, but it’s certainly not getting easier, as I’m constantly kept on my toes by Tom [Tweedie] and he is certainly not letting me get complacent,” Simpson said.

“After qualifying on pole position and winning race one, I had to work hard for my win in the second race, and then in the third race I was able to lead the entire distance and clinch my third round win of the year.”

The # 16 Parramatta Smash Repairs / Anglo Australian Motorsport supported Comtec Spirit K08 driver is looking forward to coming back to Oran Park Raceway for the fourth round of the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship on July 26 – 27.

Simpson would like to say a special thanks to Parramatta Smash Repairs and Anglo Australian Motorsport for their support in 2008.
