All or nothing, that is the motto Icon Motorsport driver Ben Morley is taking with him into the final round of the NSW State Formula Ford Championship this weekend (October 27 – 28) at Oran Park Raceway as he attempts to successfully defend his NSW State Championship crown.

Trailing behind current leader and arch-rival Rob Storey by 23 points in the championship point standings, Morley is looking for a clean run throughout the weekend and in the process re-claim the championship lead at the final round and come away with back-to-back championships, a feat that has never previously been achieved in the history of the NSW State Formula ford Championship.

“I have nothing to lose and all to gain heading into the final round and is the attitude I’m taking into the final round, so I’m going to attempt to win everything and claim maximum points, and apart from that, there isn’t much more I can do,” expressed Morley.

“In recent rounds Rob [Storey] has managed to get the better of me, but I’m quietly confident that we can bounce back into the winners circle and come away with a clean sweep of wins for the weekend.”

Morley can take plenty of confidence into the final round due to the fact that it was at Oran Park Raceway where he managed to claim his one and only undefeated round, back in July during the fourth round.

“Although that does give me confidence, there is still the fact that over the past two rounds Rob [Storey] has been in strong form, there is no denying that, and I know that I have to be at the top of my game and have a bit of luck on my side if I’m going to successfully defend the championship,” Morley admitted.

“At the last round we made a number of considerable improvements to the car, mainly with our straight line speed and set-up in the corners, and those two areas are of crucial importance around Oran Park Raceway.”

The Icon Motorsport Spectrum 09B driver is very much looking forward to the showdown with Storey after what has been a very tight contest between the pair in 2007.

“Rob [Storey] and I have been the leading drivers throughout the year and its quite fitting that it is between the two of us for the championship,” concluded Morley.

In other Icon Motorsport news, Morley’s team-mate and team owner, Derryn Harrison, will perform the double driving duties over the weekend at the final round of the NSW State Championship competing in both the Formula Ford and Production Sports Car classes.

As well as aiming for top ten results in the Formula Ford, Harrison will also step into the Icon Motorsport Mazda RX7, for the latest round of the Production Sports Car one hour Enduro series.

Harrison recently competed in the Mazda winning Class D honours during third round of the one hour Enduro series at Queensland Raceway, and is excited about getting back behind the wheel of the Mazda RX7.

“I have spent plenty of time behind the wheel of the Mazda RX7 this year, so it shouldn’t take me too long to get into the groove in my attempt for a good result,” Harrison commented.

“It’s going to be a busy weekend for me personally, as I’m going to have to adjust from driving the Formula Ford to the Production Sports Car, and vice versa each I time step into either car, so that will prove quite challenging.”
