Another highlight of the weekend and the year for Harrison was that he was able to secure a career best finish in the overall NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship point standings since joining the championship back in 2004.

“Being able to record a strong finish to the year is great and certainly does wonders for the confidence levels,” a very pleased Harrison said.

“I have been able to start the year and finish the year strongly, and although I went through a bit of a form slump during the middle stages of the championship, I have been able to bounce back, and as you learn quickly with motorsport there are always peaks and troughs.”

Harrison’s weekend at Eastern Creek Raceway started off strongly as he finished the qualifying session in seventh, and then in the opening race he fell back to finish in 10th due to slipping off the circuit in turn three earlier on in the race. Things improved in the second race when Harrison finished in ninth, and he then completed the weekend with a hard charging fifth in the third and final race.

“In the third race I intended to bring home a good result and finish the year on a high note, and that was exactly what happened,” Harrison commented.

“Over the weekend I was using an old set of tyres and the most pleasing fact about that was that I still able to progress forward over the weekend and it [using an old set of tyres] turned out to be not too much of a disadvantage for me.”

With the dust barely settled for this year the Icon Motorsport are already working on their plans and drivers for 2009.
