Pye (16) and Erickson (19) have been selected to receive a sponsored drive with Program Partner Borland Racing Developments in a state level Formula Ford Championship for next year.
At the conclusion of the evaluation day, representatives from CAMS, Borland and the Program Psychologist discussed the performance of each of the drivers and eventually decided on Pye and Erickson.CAMS Member Services and Development Manager, Quentin Crombie, said the final decision took some time to determine given the high quality of the candidates. "The four entry level drivers acquitted themselves superbly at the AIS and the evaluation day, which made the decision extremely difficult. However, taking all factors into account, we believe that we have selected the two drivers most capable of racing successfully at state level in 2007." Leigh Nicolaou and Robert Munnerley, who also performed exceptionally well, will continue to be part of the 2007 squad and receive other Program benefits including ongoing attendance at the AIS. At national level, Joshua Scott, Kristian Lindbom and Ashley Walsh will contest the 2007 Australian Formula Ford Championship. The final 2007 CAMS Rising Star Squad will be:
