The successful integration of the Historic Formula Fords into the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship last year is set to continue into 2009, the 40th Anniversary of Formula Ford in Australia.

The Larner Historic Series will again be part of the NSW Championship racing at the Eastern Creek and Oran Park rounds. 2008 saw how competitive these cars still are and how the pure enjoyment of racing is existent in these competitors.

The Larner Historic Series couples with the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship at the following rounds:

 March 21/22 Eastern Creek
 May 30/31 Oran Park
 July 4/5 Eastern Creek
 October 31/Nov 1 Oran Park

The series also attends the stand alone Historic meetings at Eastern Creek on May 2/3, and Wakefield Park on September 19/20.

2008 Series winner John Pymble drove his immaculate Van Diemen RF82 to victory, with Doug Matley in the Dalcar 83 Reynard a close second.  Doug's car took out the 1984 Australian Formula Ford Series (Driver to Europe) in the very capable hands of Thomas Mezera. Cas Galjaardt took out third in a consistent year follwed by Norm Vesty, Steve Weller and Gary Watson.

Gary was a part of the new trend of father/son teams participating in Historic Formula Ford, with some pairings sharing the driving duties.

During 2008, eight drivers ventured into the NSW Championship withtheir historic cars and all found the experience worthwhile and all agreed the step up to oompetitive state level racing has greatly improved their driving.

2009 will see more Historic cars venture out into the NSW Formula Ford 1600 Championship, with John Smith, importing a trio of Lola T440's, expected to be the "gun driver" for the 2009 Larner Series.
